This course equips participants with practical, occupation-based strategies to support individuals returning to school, work, and sport following a concussion. Emphasis is placed on identifying common problem areas during the transition back to cognitive and environmental demands, including attention, visual tolerance, screen exposure, fatigue, executive functioning, and emotional regulation. Participants will learn how to develop individualized, evidence-informed accommodations that promote successful reintegration into learning and workplace settings while minimizing symptom exacerbation. The session also reviews the current return-to-sport protocol and clarifies the relationship between return to learn and return to play, highlighting appropriate sequencing and clinical decision-making considerations.
Attendees will receive ready-to-use handouts, including sample school accommodations, short- and long-term goal examples for return to work and learning, and practical screen time management strategies. The course encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and provides actionable tools clinicians can immediately implement to optimize recovery outcomes and functional participation. This course consists of approximately one hour of lecture.
